Located on the Atlantic Ocean in the state of New Jersey, the capital city of Newark is the most populated city in New Jersey. Newark was also originally known as the Borough of Newark until it was officially declared a township in 1785. Now, the borough has many locations in the state. East Brunswick is located near the border of Delaware. In addition to many East Brunswick housing developments, the town is also home to several colleges and universities, including Rutgers University, Hunter College, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Princeton University, Oldman College, and Plummer College.

Essex County is located in the northeastern corner of New Jersey. The Essex County is known for its business and finance fields. The county includes numerous residential areas, including Bridgewater, Woodbridge, Far Hills, Pennington, Linden, Norwalk, Toms River, and Mays Landing.

In the North Jersey high school rankings, East Brunswick High School ranks first in New Jersey and is second in the state. Woodbridge Middle School is also among the top 10 high schools in the state. While there are many more NJ high schools than the number of NJ college campuses, most people assume that the colleges in New Jersey are the nation's top ranked.

For students who wish to pursue an undergraduate degree, most New Jersey colleges are among the top 25 in the nation. Rutgers University, Rutgers New Brunswick, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers-Camden, Princeton University, and New Jersey City University are some of the top five colleges in the state. There are also numerous NJ State University campuses, including Montclair State University, Seton Hall University, Baruch College, Kean University, and Piscataway College.

Today, there are no longer just two main professional sports teams in the New Jersey region; there are now three, and the fourth is in the Orange section. Of the three, the New York Islanders, the New Jersey Devils, and the New York Rangers are the most successful franchises. However, the New Jersey Devils, the New York Islanders, and the New Jersey Nets play their home games in a different building, the Prudential Center.
